Grimm had reportedly miscarried more than once and after the most recent time, she decided not to tell anyone. Instead, she befriended a woman in her 3rd trimester, who she met via social media.

Grimm invited Mafra to a baby shower, but instead drove her to an abandoned ceramic factory, then clubbed her with a rock before performing a crude caesarean section. 

Grimm then took infant to the hospital and claimed she had just given birth. However, since she did not appear to have recently given birth and the infant had small cuts on his back, staff were suspicious and contacted the police. 

Grimm’s husband, Zulmiar Schiestle, was initially detained but released. 

It appears that Grimm contacted more than one pregnant woman and specifically befriended Mafra because she reported she was carrying a girl.
