DID PERPETRATOR FAKE BEING PREGNANT: yes, Rosa was wearing maternity clothes.

MOTIVE: wanted a newborn infant

DID PERPETRATOR TAKE NEWBORN TO ER: no, birth occurred in obstetrical clinic.

OUTCOME: Lugo obtained custody of her son after 2 years, based on his DNA. Not long afterwards, Lugo left her son with her own mother and disappeared.  Her corpse was found about 6 months later; she had been shot to death. 

Laura Lugo was acquainted with the Botello sisters who convinced her to travel with them to a clinic in Matamoras Mexico in her 9th month to receive free maternity care.  There, she was drugged and delivered of her child by clinic staff.  Lugo woke up to find the Botello sisters gone and staff claimed that they thought Lugo had given up the infant voluntarily. Rosa then claimed the male infant as her own.
