Sisouvanh Synhavong had been claiming to be pregnant and needed to present an infant. When she saw Camacho Gomez at a bus stop, Sisouvanh Synhavong struck up a conversation, then offered to take the pregnant woman for a car ride to collect baby clothes. 

Sisouvanh Synhavong killed Camacho Gomez in the back seat of the car and then cut out the pregnant woman’s fetus. She later dumped Camacho Gomez’ corpse in the local park.   She went to the ER with the newborn and physicians were able to ascertain that she had not given birth recently.  A nurse testified that she saw latex gloves and bloody gauze in Sisouvanh Synhavong’s purse.  

Sisouvanh Synhavong worked.  in a nursing home and had a Nursing Assistant certificate. 

Sisouvanh Synhavong had recently asked a neighbor about the prices at her in-home child care center. 

Defense claimed that Sisouvanh Synhavong’s childhood (grew up in refugee camp, was abused) left her unable to know right from wrong.  This did not meet the standard of insanity and she was found guilty.
