While Siqueira later claimed to have known Fernandes de Jesus for 2 years, the victim’s family indicated that Siqueira was a new acquaintance, having spotted Fernandes de Jesus at photo studio and befriended the teenager. She later offered to give the teen a set of handmade baby shoes. 

Siqueira told her husband that the victim had attacked her for no reason, and Siqueira used a knife to defend herself against the pregnant 15 year old. She then absconded, and her husband found Fernandes de Jesus’ corpse in a plastic barrel, and he found the infant’s corpse in the bathroom.  Siqueira eventually turned herself into the authorities. 

Siqueira claimed that victim had promised to give her the baby and then changed her mind, which resulted in a fight between the two women.  Later claimed that she had been pregnant and experienced a miscarriage secondary to the victim assaulting her, but this was not substantiated.
