Jacqueline Williams was acquainted with Deborah Evans. Evans was the mother of a 10 year old girl, a 7 year old son, a 22 month old toddler, and was at the end of her pregnancy.  Williams’ cousin Levern Ward was the father of both Evan’s toddler and her fetus.   Williams, her male partner Fedell Caffey, and Ward visited Evans, shot the pregnant woman in the head and carved her fetus out of her body.  Evans’ 10 year old daughter was stabbed repeatedly in the neck, and Evans’ 7 year old son was removed from Evans home to the home of her friends Patrice Scott & Dwight Pruitt. The child reportedly told Scott and Pruitt what he had witnessed.  When Williams learned that the child was a viable witness, she and Caffey stabbed him to death.  Because Ward was there, his 22 month old child was not harmed.

Williams’ accomplices included her male partner Fedell Caffey, and her cousin Levern Ward.  Levern Ward was the biological father of the fetus and another child by the victim.

The psychologist hired by the defense testified that Williams knew the difference between right and wrong at the time of the murders, that she could have ‘controlled’ the events, and that she refused to take responsibility for actions, blaming others.  She denied that she had been telling other people that the newborn was hers (including telling her Probation Officer), or that she had supplied the knife that stabbed one of the murder victims.  The psychologist stated that William had a personality disorder.

Records indicate that Williams had at least one abortion and possibly one miscarriage prior to the crime.

Williams’ sister reported that Williams had claimed to be pregnant and was given a baby shower; however, Williams’ supposed due date kept being pushed backwards.

Williams’ history included being sentenced in 1988 for theft, arrested in 1991 for credit card fraud, in 1991 for possession of stolen checks and jewelry, in 1993 for attempting to cash forged checks.
