Salinas Hernandez met her pregnant victim, on Facebook. She offered to give Cartas Leon baby items and money if the young woman would meet her.  The two women met up at a shopping center, and from there, Salina Hernandez drove Cartas Leon to her own home, where she beat the woman to death. 

Cartas Leon was reported missing; her eviscerated corpse was found Salinas Hernandez’ home. 

The newborn Salinas Hernandez brought to the hospital was pronounced dead on arrival. However, the physicians were able to assess that the fetus had died from lack of oxygen while still in the womb.
