Scott informed her boyfriend that she was pregnant with his child despite knowing this was impossible given the fact that she had a hysterectomy 2 years earlier.
Scott intentionally befriended Carethia Curry after noticing the very pregnant teenager on the street. After grooming Curry for a while, Scott invited Curry over to her home where Scott shot the Curry twice in the head. Scott removed the fetus from Curry’s body and stuffed Curry’s corpse into a trash can. When Scott’s male partner arrived home, she claimed to have given birth at home, and asked him to get rid of the trash can as it had blood-soiled linens in it. Scott took the infant to the local hospital, which gave her a birth certificate (apparently without examining Scott). When Curry did not return home from visiting Scott, Curry’s mother went to Scott’s home and realized that the newborn was Curry’s baby. The police were contacted but, seeing the birth certificate, could do nothing. It was only after Curry’s corpse was found weeks later that the investigation by the police began in earnest.
Police reportedly found diagrams on performing Caesarean sections in Scott’s belongings.
