When 17 year old Kathaleena Draper became pregnant, she moved in with her aunt Erin Kuhn, and the two women agreed that Kuhn would adopt Draper’s child.  Draper had signed paperwork to that effect.

While on a road trip back to see Draper’s mother, the two women stayed at a motel in a small desert town. While there, Draper apparently changed her mind about giving up her infant for adoption, prompting a violent response by Kuhn; Kuhn killed Draper and performed a crude Caesarean section.  

Initially, Kuhn claimed that she had awoken to find Draper missing, with a note that Draper had left with a male friend.  Kuhn’s second story was that she returned to the hotel room to find Draper’s corpse and the infant removed.   Eventually Kuhn  claimed that she had accidentally knocked Draper unconscious during a fight.  Per Kuhn, it appeared that Draper had stopped breathing when knocked unconscious, so Kuhn (an ER tech) decided to to remove Draper’s fetus.  Kuhn claimed that the baby was not breathing and so Kuhn provided CPR, but was unsuccessful at reviving the infant. 

Kuhn eventually admitted to dumping the body of the infant in the desert and then dumping Draper’s corpse near Sacramento.
