Silva Pinto used a fake name and the offer of free baby supplies as bait to entice pregnant women on social media. The first women who contacted her were too early in their pregnancies and were dismissed. Others had their visits cancelled when they indicated that they were bringing friends with them.   Christini saw the offer of free clothes and a stroller, reported that she was 8.5 months pregnant and agreed to travel to Pinto’s home in order to obtain them.  Christini was in fact only 7 months pregnant

Christini was missing for nearly 2 weeks before her burned corpse were found at Silva Pinto’s home. 

Silva Pinto confessed to the crime, blaming it on the fact that was infertile. Her husband Fabio Luiz Souza Lima was also arrested but released when she indicated that he had no part in the crime.
