Munoz Rodriguez  needed to present a baby to her boyfriend, in order to substantiate her claims that she was pregnant with his child.  She spotted a pregnant woman near her children’s school, and approached her. Munoz Rodriguez reportedly offered to provide Catalina baby supplies.  Once the pregnant woman was at Munoz Rodriguez’ home, she was bludgeoned, and then her fetus was cut out of her body.  

When Munoz Rodriguez presented the infant at the local clinic, the staff declared the baby was deceased.  Munoz Rodriguez fled, hiding in a different district. 

Catalina’s corpse was found in Munoz Rodriguez’ home, after the neighbors reported a smell.  The authorities advertised her photo and the citizens of the district where she was hiding reported her presence.
